Media Information
UNITE HERE was formed by the merger of two international unions UNITE (formerly the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees) and HERE (Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union) on July 8, 2004. The new merged union is known as UNITE HERE, and in Canada as UNITE HERE Canada. The new name is no longer an acronym; it is not hyphenated, nor is it translated.
UNITE HERE Canada welcomes inquiries from the media regarding our industries, members, policy and politics, and other issues of concern to Canadian workers. Contact UNITE HERE's research department at 416-703-8455 x 303, 304 or 315.
